An Introduction to the PostgreSQL Project

How the world's most advanced open source database is made

PostgreSQL is renowned for its stability and rich feature set, and has been the most popular database in the Stack Overflow survey two years in a row.  It is used everywhere, from Fortune-500 companies to small hobbyist projects and its liberal license has enabled many companies to create derivative products from it.

So how does a project with no roadmap, no central steering and almost no central authority make that possible without even being on Github?

This presentation will explain what the Postgres project is, the people behind it and how it ensures the level of quality users expect while enabling growth of the community.

Speaker:

Daniel Gustafsson - is a PostgreSQL Major Contributor and Committer and have been involved in most aspects of the projects over the past decade - from writing code and documentation to organize conferences and running non-profits.  He works at Microsoft hacking on PostgreSQL.
