Essentials of Manipulating data in R with dplyr

Have a dataset but not sure how to go about handling and analyzing it? Need to transform variables? Only want to select rows that start with a certain letter or number? Or need to look at specific columns only? Know a lot about base R functions but are eager to expand your skills? Or wondering about better practices of aggregating data in general? This is the second R Skåne group meeting and we will continue exploring the tidyverse. {dplyr} is a grammar of data manipulation, providing a consistent set of verbs that help you solve the most common data manipulation challenges. We will cover the main verbs of the package, practices of a good data manipulation workflow, as well as how you can apply this knowledge to our last meeting’s topic – ggplot2! All levels are welcome and you, of course, don´t need to have attended the first workshop to join this one (don’t forget to bring your computer with R and RStudio installed)!

Neli Tsereteli has a bachelors in Cognitive Brain Science from Tufts University in Boston, and just graduated with Master’s of Medical science in Public Health from Lund University. She fell in love with epidemiology and statistics during her studies, and fell even more in love with R and data analysis after deciding to give it a try just for fun. Originally from Tbilisi, Georgia, Neli now lives in Malmö, recently started working as a support data analyst at Lund University’s Diabetes Center, and enjoys her free time by geeking out with R, reading, and rock climbing with friends. Hope to see you all there!
