PyLadies is an international mentorship group with a focus on helping more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community.
This will be an informal meetup, so whatever your level (complete beginner to accomplished Pythonista) bring your laptop and let's get coding!
You'll get support, resources and will be able to work through a tutorial in a group if you wish to. It's also an opportunity to set time aside and work on a side project.
We'll start the event with a few lightning talks that is short talks of up to 5 minutes on a coding related subject. Lightning talks is a good format to get comfortable with public speaking and you don't need much time to prepare.
Machine Learning Workshop
Continuing with the monthly Study group! This month will be joined by the amazing Christine Winter who will give a short (around 1 hour) introductory workshop to Machine Learning:
"Machine Learning is a wide field and one can easily loose the overview where to start with all tools, platforms and libraries that are out there. To just start somewhere we will go through different machine learning types and train a decision tree model from the scikit-learn library to help us with data classification.
The goal of this workshop is to gain a basic understanding of approaching this kind of data analysis questions and how we can use python to get an answer."
-> prerequisites: know some Python, be somewhat familiar with Numpy and Jupyter
-> beforehand install: jupyter, numpy, pandas and sklearn OR Anaconda
17:30 come in and mingle
18:00 lightning talks
18:30 coding (and/or chatting) or ML workshop
19:15 dinner break
19:30 more coding (and/or more chatting) or ML workshop
NOTE: You're welcome to come accompanied by your little one :)
