Arduino workshop with flow-based programming

LEVEL: Intermediate

This meetup is meant as a workshop that is held by other Critical Tech meetup members. Together we want to learn some basics about flow-based programming and go into a bit more detail on visualizing it.

Join us for a workshop in learning how to wire up and program Arduino in an easy and fun way. We will carry out a few fun exercises, for example: reading your body temperature and sending a tweet if it goes too high.

The programming method we will use will be based on flow-based programming using Node-RED. We will provide all the required hardware. Everyone will get a Arduino kit to practice with during the workshop. You bring your laptop and your curiosity!

In order to save time during the event, we would really appreciate it if you download and install the required software before you arrive: Node.js 6.

Depending on how the first meeting goes, we would like to continue with the workshop and deepen the knowledge through each following meeting. But we don't want to exclude people that just took note about this workshop - that is why we will offer a short introduction into the basics during the first 10 minutes of every upcoming flow-based programming meeting. Together with the links on our meetup website, interested people can inform themselves and could still start participating in this workshop.

Just keep in mind - we are learning together - we are not experts but want to learn some more hands-on practice. Everyone can contribute. This time Nigel and Farnaz volunteered to practice a bit beforehand and then show us first steps.
