After Work Seminar

The ever increasing packet rates pose new challenges to existing software networking stacks. 400 GbE is already on the vendors roadmaps, so does that mean we need to rethink how networking is done in software?

This session will give you a brief look into a packet's life through the Linux network stack, show a software developer's view of contemporary network interfaces, discuss common bottlenecks, explain the recent trends of kernel network stack by-passing and more.

Speaker

Björn Töpel has dabbled in all kinds of networking stacks, ranging from Skype's peer-to-peer stack, high-frequency trading platforms all the way down to Ethernet device drivers. For the moment, most of his time is spent in the Linux kernel. He's a coffee addict, avid runner and wannabe librarian.
