Besides being easy to learn and very expressive, Python is an extremely versatile language. It is used for everything from running on a chip, creating web applications, automating native applications, machine learning to analyzing scientific data.
Imagine my horror when I found out that there is no Python user group in the Malmö/Lund area! This needs to be fixed as soon as possible!
Let's kick off the Skåne Python User Group with a couple of short presentations about what we're using Python for; either at work or on our hobby projects. Nothing fancy, just be prepared to share something about what you're working on. If you're not actively working on anything with Python, and are just curious about the language that's perfectly fine!
We'll also spend some time talking about what kind of content we'd like to create together in the future.
See you there!
Presentation: Switching to Python at Lundalogik
During 2014 the LIME Pro team at Lundalogik has been making a switch from developing for Windows using C++ and .NET to using Python as our main platform for new development. This presentation brings up how and why we decided to make the switch, what our development infrastructure looks like, and the joys and sorrows of starting to use Python in a traditional Windows shop.
Presenter: Joakim Karlsson, Lundalogik AB
Joakim has tried most roles in software development. After a long time working as a consultant focusing on helping teams with agile methodologies, he's now back coding full time, mainly in Python. He's now part of the LIME Pro team at Lundalogik, where he works on developing the next generation of CRM systems.
