MalmöJS is a monthly meet-up for front-end web developer passionates who are pleased to share knowledge, problems and ideas with each other.
Taking Docker to production should be straightforward. For me it was not. When it was time to hit the button I faced many different options, constrains and general troubles.
Tonight we are going through some of those options, check out pros & cons and finally we are going to deploy a Wordpress project into a DigitalOcean virtual machine.
Actually we are going to see an end-to-end experience from Development to Production!
Bonus: I'm going to unfold a proof of concept that will blow your mind: what if a Project Manager was able to checkout a feature branch from your project's repo and run it on her local machine with a single click (maybe two)?
What to bring
In order to fully enjoy this evening you need:
- some basic development understanding of Wordpress
- some basic understanding of Docker
- some basic understanding of Terminal (bash)
Optional but good to have:
- you have experienced the pain of deploying different services to a Linux box
- you hate to waste time
Marco Pegoraro just can't stay a full weekend without playing around with his mac. Instead of gaming he's playing around with new stuff trying to make his daily job experience more easy and fast. He secretly dreams of cutting down his working hours by half after retirement.
We will begin at 17.30 with meet and greet. The program starts at 17.45 - we will have break with something lighter to eat and drink at 18.30-ish.
